Our Mission

Bone Health Initiative provides education, resources, and tools to help students and local communities understand bone health and bone disease. Our mission is to spread timely bone health information that supports the development and maintenance of strong and healthy bones as well as the prevention, detection, and treatment of bone diseases. BHI builds capacity for local community outreach through our projects for elementary schoolers, high school students, parents, and seniors.

Committees

All of the work that we do as a club is made possible with the help of our six wonderful committees: Education, BBP, Outreach, Publicity, Senior Workshop, and Finance. Click on the tabs below to find out what some of our committees accomplished during the Spring 2021 semester!

Our Projects

Within BHI, you will gain the knowledge and skills to effectively educate your community on different aspects of bone health. BHI members present Bone Builder Program nutrition and exercise workshops at elementary schools, community talks and FORE fracture risk assessments at senior homes and health fairs, and relevant educational materials to the Cal college student population. Other projects include senior workshops, SPLASH, and our partnership with Project Smile. We also offer a 2 unit decal called "Intro to Orthopedic Sciences" where students dive into the topics of osteoporosis, the musculoskeletal system, and orthopedic biomechanics.
